❄️ Winter Solstice ❄️

Darkness invites us to rest, slow down
The harvest is in
Wood is stacked
Fire crackles and burns
We are warm and our stores are full
We rest
Slow down


Our schedules do not remind us
Calendars don’t understand
Clocks don’t recognize
What earth knows about life’s cycles
We are born and grow
Our teacher tells us that
Our gift is our responsibility and
Our responsibility is our gift
So, we labor
And we love what we give


The seasons tell us, show us that
On the longest night we are asked to be still
A voice deep within replies, yes
We’ve been longing for rest

As if in prayer we are quiet and listen
