The Droideka is back on display at Nerdin Out in Rochester!

If you're anywhere near Rochester, Minnesota, you owe it to yourself to stop in and check this place out. Not only is my biggest and proudest build sitting there for everyone to see, but the store itself is absolutely phenomenal.

Whether you're into collectibles, comics, games, toys, or just love geeking out over awesome stuff, Nerdin Out has something for you. The atmosphere is fantastic, the selection is incredible, and it's exactly the kind of local business that deserves support.

It's pretty surreal seeing hundreds of hours of work on display in such a great shop, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity. So if you're in the area, swing by, check out the Droideka, and spend some time exploring everything else the store has to offer. You won't be disappointed!

PROJECT COMPLETE!

After months of printing, sanding, assembling, painting, weathering, and countless hours of detail work, my life-size Super Battle Droid is finally finished!

This build became one of the most rewarding projects I’ve tackled so far. Every stage was an opportunity to learn something new, from refining paint techniques to adding the weathering, battle damage, and worn-metal look that helped bring this droid to life.

My goal was to make it feel like it had just stepped off the battlefields of the Clone Wars; and seeing it standing at full height makes all those late nights worth it.

This is exactly why I love this hobby: taking spools of filament and transforming them into something that feels like it belongs in a galaxy far, far away.

What do you think? Did I do the Separatist Army proud?

P.S. I will be adding LEDs to the inside of the head and the red dot on the side. For now this is complete though. 😊

Lost track of time in the shop tonight, and honestly, that’s usually when the best progress happens.

I added the blue accent panels to the Super Battle Droid and, while it’s screen-accurate, it still feels a little strange seeing color on a droid that’s usually just a wall of metal. I think once I finish weathering everything and blend it together, it’ll look exactly how it should.

I also started adding battle damage. Those dents aren’t painted on; they were actually formed by heating the plastic until it became pliable and then pressing in realistic impact marks before weathering them. My goal was to make it look like this droid has taken a few direct hits and kept marching forward.

One thing I’ve always loved about Super Battle Droids is how tough they felt in the movies and games. They weren’t sleek. They weren’t flashy. They were walking tanks.

Still a lot of work ahead, but it’s finally starting to develop some character.

For those who don’t know, Republic Commando is my all-time favorite video game. Long before I was building full-size props and armor, I was leading Delta Squad through the galaxy on the original Xbox. It’s a game that’s stuck with me for years and played a huge role in my love for Star Wars.

This is my very first attempt at a 1/6 scale figure, and I’m having an absolute blast with it so far. There’s something really cool about bringing the same attention to detail from full-size builds down to a collectible-sized project.

I’m excited to get this commando painted up and displayed, and if this project goes well, it definitely won’t be the last smaller build you see from me.

Local friends and followers; if you’re looking for someone dependable to help keep your yard under control this summer, I’ve got to give a huge shoutout to RAM Professional Services.

Between family life, work, and all the craziness of building projects for Regal Rebel, my lawn had officially reached the “I’ll get to it tomorrow” stage for a little too long. They came out, knocked it out quickly, and made the whole place look under control again.

As things continue growing for Regal Rebel, having local businesses like this that genuinely help people out means a lot. Supporting good local businesses matters, and these guys absolutely earned the recommendation.

Big builds will always be the heart of Regal Rebel… but I’ve been having a blast working on some smaller props too. 🔥

Starting with this lightsaber inspired by the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi. There’s just something special about taking a design this iconic and bringing it to life piece by piece on the printer.

Smaller props are a fun change of pace, and honestly a great way to add more detailed pieces to the collection while the larger builds are underway. More to come soon. 👀

Today is the final day my builds are on display at West Acres Cinema.

This has been one of those milestones that reminds me why I started building in the first place. What began as work in a garage turned into something shared out in the real world, where people could stop, look closer, and connect with what’s being created piece by piece.

To everyone who came through, took the time to look, asked questions, offered encouragement, or shared the work with someone else; thank you. And to those who went a step further and found the channel and chose to follow along, your support has helped carry this project forward in a real way.

There’s something timeless about people gathering around a craft, appreciating the process, and being part of the journey as it unfolds. That’s exactly what this has been.

The display comes down today, but the work continues. More builds, more stories, and more to come.
