There are times when having a lot of possibilities does not feel exciting.
But instead, it feels overwhelming.
There may be things we want to learn, things we want to create, things we know we could teach or share, and different directions our lives could go.
But somehow all of those possibilities can turn into things we think we need to figure out right now.
I’ve often caught myself doing that.
We just moved from Leo season into Virgo season. Fire into earth.
Leo season brought a lot of creative energy for me. Ideas. Possibilities. Things I’d like to learn, teach, experience and create.
Now Virgo brings some of that energy back down to earth.
This does not mean to shut down all the possibilities, but rather to discern where our energy belongs right now.
It reminds me of Warrior II in yoga.
Both feet are grounded. The body is strong and open. The arms reach in opposite directions, but the gaze is steady and focused.
There can be a lot happening around us without our energy having to go in every direction with it.
It also makes me think about the solar plexus — our center of personal power, confidence and the ability to choose and act.
Personal power doesn’t have to mean knowing exactly where we’re going.
It can simply be trusting ourselves enough to decide where our energy belongs today.
Bringing something down to earth does not mean every idea needs to become another assignment.
Some ideas may be asking us to act.
Some may be asking us to learn.
Some may be asking us to create.
And some may simply be reminding us of something we love.
I believe part of discernment is learning the difference.
We do not have to know where every path leads before we explore it.
Pay attention to what keeps coming back.
What makes you curious.
What makes you feel more like yourself.
What you’ve learned through your own life that might someday serve someone else.
And then give one of those things somewhere to land.
It could be a conversation. A class. A page. A walk. An hour spent learning something you love. Or just a beautiful conversation with another human.
It’s not necessary to make our entire lives up in one day.
We can simply start participating in the life that’s trying to emerge in this moment.
What keeps coming back for you lately that might be asking for some of your attention?
