I have mixed feelings about sharing this. I feel it’s insensitive to the victims and their families but I also feel the need to use it as an example of how imperative it is to be weather aware. Especially at night.
I’m working on the video.

Calling it a day. Hope those of you without power get it back soon. Despite all of the ingredients being present for some really nasty storms, we dodged a major bullet. Thinking of those in MS who were not as fortunate. Keep them in your prayers - they really need it.
Have a good night.

Not Union Parish, skippable. Fellow radar nerds, now is a good time to be learning from other storms when they are not overhead. Check out the tornados debris signature (TDS) caught on the correlation coefficient radar mode. The big blue ball is debris being lofted into the air near New Boston, TX. Also note how the velocity mode looks. This is a powerful and dangerous tornado.
Question of the day, or even the month: Are we going to get some rain? Will it make it across the state line?!?! In the words of Bob Barker, COME ON DOWN!!
Hurricane Ian's eyewall is now visible on Florida's southernmost radar in Key West. Rapid intensification will occur once Ian clear Cuba, as Ian is expected to reach CAT 4 today. 😳
Hyperlapse from this afternoon showing some distant storm clouds rolling on... (and my kids scurrying around 😂)
A wild 2.5 seconds of Union Parish, Louisiana summer thunderstorm lightning! Shown first in real-time then slowed down to catch each little bit of lightning.
Trying out a new thing for this page. A hyperlapse of the clouds. Thise one seemed to be nearly stationary. Still neat to watch how the clouds move and form.
Some incredible lightning my daughter and I witnessed tonight! Caught some anvil crawlers and a pretty insane cloud to ground lightning all in one shot. The CG seemed to linger for a while. This was looking west from the Crossroads area and I assume the lightning bolt was somewhere around Farmerville, possibly in line with the airport or DWCS areas. Time stamp on this one is 8:41pm.
Here is the video I captured of the incredible anvil crawler lightning over Farmerville on 7/13/22. The video shows it in real-time speed and then slowed down to 1/10th speed. Special thanks to Meteorologist Don Wheeler for helping me correctly identify this spectacular lightning phenomenon.
