The Franklin Journal has been serving the community since Joseph Griffin first established a paper in 1840 which went through several transformations and a merger of the County Register and The Chronicle by 1882. The full name of this paper still retains The Franklin Journal and Farmington Chronicle in its masthead.

Town Clerk Pamela Adams reported that Robert Neal won the three-year Select Board seat with 68 votes; Robert Ayer received 60 votes and Tory Mooar 30, with unopposed incumbent Paula Nason elected to an open one-year seat.

Robert Neal was elected to the Select Board in the only contested race.

The Big Lots in the Mt. Blue Plaza in Farmington is undergoing liquidation after it was reported earlier this month that a sale had fallen through. It was announced last week that a sale had been agreed to for some Big Lots stores, but it was not known if Farmington is one of them.

Information on whether the Farmington Big Lots will remain open was not known Monday morning, Dec. 30.
