When you think of Van Life with kids, what do you think? That it sounds impossible? Magical? Crowded? 🀣

For those who have followed us for a while, you know that adventuring with kids has always been our passion. Making memories with our kids is everything.

And Van Life has put all those passions at our finger tips! It has given us access to incredible places and experiences. It has allowed us to travel safely in a time of uncertainty. It has brought us even closer as a family.
So what is Van Life with kids like? Definitely possible. Definitely magical. We love love the closeness. It has been the best change within this year of many changes!

Your dream may not be Van Life with kids. But whatever it is I hope you can come here and feel inspired to chase those dreams. And to know that kids do not stop adventures and dreams. But they do add some magic to them!

Travel with your kids. Spend quality time with your kids. Hang on their every word. Be interested in their interests. Before you know it, they will no longer be kids.

Van life for us was always a pipe dream. A fantasy to hold while going about life. And then two years ago when I was pregnant with baby R, we were taking precautions because I was high risk. Unfortunately the steps we took did not prevent complications and baby R’s heart stopped. They rushed me away from Mike without much explanation and she came via emergency c-section within 4 minutes. I then had complications of my own. It was a traumatic time for all of us but we got the most precious baby from all that tribulation ❀️. And something else inside us shifted too. We have always valued experiences and memories above all else. But it almost gets more pressing. We didn’t want to wait until the kids were older to live our dreams, they are growing up so fast 😭. Today was the day for memories! And a van was how we wanted to do that!
So we worked and saved and watched for the right one to come along. And now here we are, two years later. Loving our simple little van, enjoying simple moments with the girls that have become epic memories.

Water has always made me feel free. And maybe that’s because of my childhood.

You see, I have severe scoliosis. And a hip disease known as Legg Calve-Perthes. And axial loading exercises are not recommended for me (hello packing children for years! But what can you do?)

As a child I had intense therapy for my hip and for my back, I wore a full body brace for 4.5 years. Despite the limitations on exercise, it was important to build strong muscles. Swimming was recommended as ideal exercise due to the low impact and weightlessness.

Water has become where I feel free of limitations. Not only do I get a weightless experience for my body, my worries and stress seem to float away as well.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Flag Rock πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Flag rock is a 3.4 mile hike in Farmington Utah. It is rated as moderate because it has a good incline. You gain approximately 1500 ft in elevation in just over a mile πŸ˜…. There is virtually no shade, making this hike extremely hot in the summer. But look at the view you get! 😍.
One of favorite things to do on this hike is stop at Patsy Mines! Patsy mines are some old mining tunnels that the girls love to explore. And you have to hike to them anyway to get to flag rock, so why not take the small detour 😁
Fair warning, this hike has dozens of switchbacks! And my husband HATES switchbacks! This means the last time I hiked this, I did it solo with one toddler on my back 😁. But if you don’t mind the switchbacks, this is an amazing hike with incredible views. As we stood here, two bald eagles came circling above us, creating the perfect moment ❀️
