I was going through some emails and ran across this:

For more than 65 years, the International Literacy Association (ILA) has set the standard for how literacy is defined, taught, and evaluated.

This is a opening line to promote an event for the ILA. And I got to thinking.....65 years they've set the standard.....and look at the level of proficiency in our 4th and 8th graders.

Can we afford another 65 years? Can we afford even one more year? Just sayin'........
