Sheriff
Roger Morrison - 1,452 (33%)
Byron Yerby - 2,958 (67%)

Revenue Commissioner
Carrie Edmonson - 1,266 (30%)
Jeananne Edwards - 1,968 (46%)
Jerry Nichols - 1,041 (24%)

Edwards and Edmonson will be in a runoff June 16.

Superintendent of Education
Steve Herring - 794 (18%)
Jeremy Madden - 1,699 (39%)
Steve Sawyer - 1,828 (42%)

WLDX will have all candidates for County-wide offices in the upcoming May 19 Republican primary as guests on Morning Call beginning Monday, May 4.

We will start with Fayette County Coroner, followed by Fayette County Revenue Commissioner, Fayette County Superintendent of Education, and Fayette County Sheriff. Candidates will appear by alphabetical order of their last name for each office. The interviews will air at approximately 7:20 each morning for five minutes. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, May 4 - Daniel Ewald (Coroner)
Tuesday, May 5 - Timothy Kimbrell (Coroner)
Wednesday, May 6 - Carrie Edmonson (Revenue Commissioner)

The AHSAA announced reclassification for fall sports for the 2026-2028 school years this morning.

Public schools will be in 1A - 6A, with all private schools being in one of two classifications (the 16 largest private schools will be in AA, with the remainder in A).

For football, there will now be eight championship games, with private schools playing for their own championship.

As for teams in Fayette County, Berry and Hubbertville are in 1A Region 5:

Fayette will be in 3A Region 5:
