Art Amiss Publishing Art Amiss Publishing is the literary branch of Art Amiss, Inc. The magazine is published to coincide with the Art Amiss shows in May and November.

Art Amiss Literary Magazine is a biannual anthology of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, literary translations, short plays and screenplays, and hybrids that combine writing with another art form. Hardcopies and various digital downloads formats are available through MagCloud (www.magcloud.com/browse/Magazine/80853). Manuscripts and artwork that don't fit the magazine format are considered fo

r book publication through Art Amiss Books. This includes long short stories, novellas, and novels as well as extended essays, poetry collections, and dramas. We are also interested in photography and graphic art portfolios. There is no entry fee and no limit on the number of pieces submitted. Authors and visual artists need to have a connection to the state, such as being an Arkansas native or a current or former resident. Send pitches and queries to [email protected]. The event will feature very short readings of fiction and poetry and music performances from local writers and artists. Guests are invited to bring a dish to contribute to a potluck, which will run through the day. Beverages will be available from Fayetteville Underground for donations. The event is free. The Burning Chair Readings encourages those who can donate $3 or more to Fayetteville Underground on the day of the event to do so.

The event is free. The Art Amiss #14 magazine will be available for donations of $5 or more, with proceeds contributing to transportation for Guillermo Parra, a Pittsburgh-based translator of Venezuelan and Latin American poetry, who will give a readings and conduct a workshop November 22 and 23 as part of Typo Fest and the Fayetteville Underground and Nightbird Books.

Art Amiss and The Burning Chair readings will host Local Lit Fest: Art Amiss #14 on Saturday, September 7 from 8-10 at Nightbird Books. The event with celebrate the release of Art Amiss #14, a handmade literary journal featuring poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and literary hybrid from writers living in, from, or affiliated to Arkansas. Cover design brought to you by a local artist. The event will feature writers published in the issue, which will be available for purchase, with proceeds helping Art Amiss Literature bring more writers to the area for future events. Of course, the usual libations will be for sale at the Nightbird Cafe. Keep an eye out for a list of readers and for announcements about magazine production.

Art Amiss Publishing seeks literary submissions for Art Amiss #14. Poetry, short fiction, literary nonfiction, and hybrid forms will be considered for publication. Authors must presently reside or have formerly resided in Arkansas or have another significant tie to the region. All work must have been previously unpublished. Send all submissions to [email protected] or at https://artamisslit.submittable.com/submit along with a very brief cover letter that explains your connection to Arkansas and any other pertinent information about you or your submission. Please send submissions in a .doc, .rtf, or .pdf. For poetry, send 3-5 poems. For others genres and hybrid forms, send about 1-5 pages.

Submissions must be sent no later than Wednesday, August 28. Submitters will be notified by Friday, August 30. We will release the issue at the Art Amiss Local Lit Fest on Saturday, September 7 at 8 pm at Nightbird Books. All writers accepted in the issue will receive a free copy of the magazine and will be invited to read at the event.
