Following Monday’s military vehicle crash at Fort Chaffee, four Arkansas Army National Guardsmen are being recognized not just for their courage, but for the life they helped save.

As the accident unfolded and fellow soldiers were injured, these Guardsmen rushed toward danger without hesitation, providing critical, immediate care to a seriously wounded soldier. Eight Guardsmen were injured in the crash, including one soldier who was airlifted to Springfield, Missouri, to undergo surgery.

I attended the ceremony today, and witnessed the emotional moments afterward, including the four Guardsmen embracing one another. It’s a powerful reminder of the brotherhood, compassion, and selflessness that define those who serve.

Today, these soldiers were honored with Meritorious Service Awards for their extraordinary actions:

• SSG Jorge Ramerez Martinez
• SSG Ryan Niblett
• SGT Eduardo Salazar
• SSG James Roach

According to the Army, the four provided “immediate lifesaving care,” and their “willingness to act saved the life of a critically injured soldier.” Their decisive medical intervention and unwavering commitment to their fellow soldier directly led to the preservation of life.

Thank you, service members. 🇺🇸🤍

A glance at the squad car stationed outside the Heavener Police Department, placed as a tribute to Thomas “Walker” LeMay. With each passing hour, more and more tokens of love and remembrance are left at the car, a growing reflection of the lives he touched and the loss felt by so many.

17 ACRES BURNED: Yesterday at 4:16 PM, Wedington Fire crews were dispatched to a large brush fire near Lake Wedington in the Ozark National Forest. Due to strong winds and heavy underbrush, additional resources were quickly requested.

With the support of multiple neighboring departments and the U.S. Forest Service, crews worked through the evening to contain the fire. Forestry teams established a dozer line and conducted a back burn to secure the area.

The fire burned approximately 17 acres. While it will continue to smolder for the next several days, we’re told there is no threat to surrounding land or structures.
