Official Statement from Wesley Haynes
Hello everyone, this is Wesley Haynes. Approximately six days ago, I announced that I would begin creating and selling hand-painted canvas artwork at a price of $1,200.00 per piece. The image previously shared was provided solely as an example of the artistic style I will be producing. These works will be original oil paintings, created personally by me, through my own professional account. They have no connection to Ascension Records whatsoever.
Recently, I posted a short video of digital artwork created in the Sketchbook application. That digital sketch was simply part of my creative process and has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming collection of oil paintings I will be selling.
Despite this, Joshua Scarborough publicly claimed that I was attempting to sell AI-generated artwork at an inflated price. This statement is completely false. He then proceeded to tag my company and make negative comments about Ascension Records—again, even though my personal artwork is not affiliated with the label in any way.
For clarity:
• I am not selling AI-generated art.
• My digital Sketchbook work is not part of the collection for sale.
• My artwork and Ascension Records are two completely separate endeavors.
I have attached the posts for transparency. Anyone who knows my professional track record understands that I do not engage in misleading or deceptive practices.
To address additional misinformation: Mr. Scarborough previously claimed I “charged too much” for a show he performed at. Ascension Records was only a sponsor at that event and provided sound support. We had no involvement in determining admission fees.
I want to emphasize that I have no personal issue with Mr. Scarborough. However, when false claims are directed at me and especially at my company, it must be addressed. If anyone—including Mr. Scarborough—would like to discuss this matter openly, I welcome a respectful conversation. I am even willing to have a transparent, on-camera sit-down discussion and feature it on YouTube so the public can hear both sides clearly.
Constructive conversation is always more productive than assumptions or misinformation. If you have questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out.
Thank you.
