🏗️ Habitat Youth Construction Camp 2025 Inspires Fayetteville Teens To Build Their Futures
🔨 The 2025 Fayetteville Habitat for Humanity Youth Construction Camp gave high school students ages 16 to 18 an unforgettable, five-day, hands-on journey into the skilled trades. Hosted in partnership with Lowe’s and backed by generous community sponsors, this free program did more than teach — it opened doors to career possibilities, built confidence, and gave teens skills they can carry for a lifetime.
📸 FayToday News was on site each day to witness students in action, mastering tasks in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing that many had never tried before. By week’s end, the transformation was remarkable — students were not only more skilled but spoke and worked like young professionals ready to take on real projects.
🪚 Training stations rotated throughout the week. Carpentry sessions had students measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing wood pieces. Electrical training showed them how to safely wire and connect circuits while understanding how energy powers a building. Plumbing lessons covered pipe fitting, sealing, and the layout of water systems. Students also learned staining techniques, how to safely operate professional-grade tools, and the vital importance of safety protocols in every trade.
🌡️ With temperatures reaching 100°F during camp, the community’s support truly shined. Sponsors and partners provided a cooling tent, cold drinks, free lunches, snacks, and funding to keep the program safe, comfortable, and fully equipped.
🤝 While skill-building was the focus, the week naturally fostered strong connections between students and instructors. Working side by side, they developed trust, respect, and a shared pride in their accomplishments — bonds that will continue long after the camp ended.
🎓 The final day brought a proud moment for families as they gathered for graduation. Each student received a Certificate of Completion, words of encouragement to continue their education at Fayetteville Technical Community College or other trade schools, and a tool bag filled with electric tools — a starter kit for their future in the trades.
📅 Registration for this free camp typically opens in late spring, and spots fill quickly.
