🇺🇸 On a sweltering Memorial Day, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Montieth Stewart bellowed at the crowd Monday morning about the life of one fallen local soldier, and the sacrifices it took for the U.S. military to achieve its global position.

Near Centre Street’s Veterans Memorial in downtown Fernandina Beach, hundreds gathered to remember those who gave their lives for their country, locally and nationally.

Some local nature lovers had the opportunity to touch a snake for the first time. 🐍

Not only could they touch snakes; they could touch turtles, tortoises and a variety of other live animals. Nature- and conservation-focused organizations were out at Main Beach Park on Saturday for the Wild Amelia Eco Expo and the Opening of the Beaches. 🐢
