A federal jury has awarded Black pastor Bishop George Bloomer $62.2 million after finding Detroit media executive Kevin Adell subjected him to racial discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

And the court record is remarkable.

After Bloomer repeatedly told Adell that a meme was racist and asked him to stop, records show Adell continued taunting him, sent another racially offensive image, threatened his airtime, and referred to restricting it as “the whip.”

We dug into the federal court records behind the massive verdict.

Republicans are spending millions trying to paint congressional candidate Christina Hines as soft on crime, and a dismissed 2021 sexual assault case has become one of their biggest attacks.

But a Metro Times review of police and forensic records found a very different story.

Investigators uncovered electronic evidence that contradicted key allegations, found no credible evidence that the complainant was receiving threatening texts, and later obtained records showing threatening messages were being sent from an account tied to the investigation.
