WANTED WEDNESDAY:
Fishers Police arrest an Indianapolis man for several charges, including unlawful carrying of a handgun, after a lengthy investigation. There's now a warrant for his arrest in Marion County stemming from those charges.
On November 8, 2024, an FPD officer conducted a traffic stop on I-69 for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Caleb Hanes of Indianapolis. The officer smelled ma*****na, and Hanes admitted to having an ounce of ma*****na in his car; when asked to exit the vehicle, Hanes sped off.
In the days following FPD Detectives from the Crime Reduction Unit began investigating Hanes. On November 21, 2024, with the help of Fishers SWAT, Hanes was taken into custody outside his residence in Indianapolis.
Hanes had an active felony warrant for Resisting Law Enforcement and a handgun in his pocket at the time of his arrest. During a search of both Hanes' vehicles, detectives found ma*****na, Xanax, a digital scale, sandwich bags, a safe with an additional handgun, and more than $1500.
Hanes now faces the following charges:
Hamilton County
Resisting Law Enforcement-Defendant uses a vehicle -Level 6 Felony
Marion County (Warrant)
Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun- Level 5 Felony
Dealing in Ma*****na- Level 6 Felony
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
