CG athletes Eli Hightshue (golf), Liam Price (powerlifting), and Josh McRoberts (swimming), along with swim coach Mark Madden and bowling coach Chelsea Davis, will begin preparing for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota. Team Indiana will host training camps at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from July 25-27. The Special Olympics USA Games will unite 3,000 athletes, 1,500 coaches, 10,000 volunteers, and 75,000 fans from all 50 states.

Rest In Peace, Oszy

It is with heavy hearts that the Center Grove Police Department announces the passing of K9 Oszy, a loyal partner and beloved member of our law enforcement family.

In early 2025, Oszy began experiencing health issues. During a veterinary checkup, a large and aggressive mass was discovered in his abdomen. After careful consultation with his veterinarian and in consideration of his quality of life, the extremely difficult decision was made to humanely lay him to rest to prevent further suffering.

K9 Oszy served the Center Grove community with dedication and heart as a certified narcotics detection and tracking dog. He was assigned full-time to CGPD Sergeant David Beasley, his handler and partner. Together, they played a vital role in promoting safety within our schools and community.

Beyond his service, Oszy was known for his playful personality. He especially loved playing with any toy he could chase. In the schools, Oszy quickly became a favorite among students and staff. His calm and friendly demeanor made him approachable to all, and he never turned down an opportunity for a few moments of affection from anyone.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Beasley and his family, who shared a deep and enduring bond with Oszy. We are forever grateful for K9 Oszy’s service.
