Local Master Chef Contestant to present at Library
A live cooking demonstration with local Chef, Tanorria Askew Nickson, will be one of the featured events during Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program. This all ages event will take place Saturday, June 21 at 2:30 PM at the library’s Zionsville Branch, 250 N. 5th Street, Zionsville.
Nickson is a former Master Chef contestant who currently serves as a personal chef through her business, Tanorria’s Table. She is also a public speaker, co-host of the Black Girls Eating podcast, and a racial injustice change-maker. Attendees at the event will be able to experience the cooking process with Nickson and her affinity for putting a modern spin on high-flavor comfort food. Plus, food samples will be available along with a free recipe card for the featured dish.
This event has been fully funded by the Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. This volunteer group works throughout the year to fundraise through book sales and their popular Secret Snowflake Shop event in December. All proceeds from these events are used to fund exceptional public programs like this unique presentation.
Many residents will remember Nickson from her Season 7 appearance on the Master Chef TV series, where she exhibited her skills as an accomplished chef. She placed fourth in the competition.
Chef Nickson will hold a book signing at the end of the event. Participants who register before June 6 may pre-order copies of Staples + 5: 100 Simple Recipes to Make the Most of your Pantry for pick up at the demonstration.
Unfortunately, additional books will not be available for purchase at the event. Registration is now open at https://bit.ly/430Wo6f.
