āJuneteenth is a powerful reminder of what makes America greatāour ability to correct wrongs and expand freedom for all. It celebrates June 19, 1865, the day when the last enslaved Americans in Texas were told they were free, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It took Union troops arriving to enforce the law and deliver that freedom.

Juneteenth isnāt about guilt or politicsāitās about acknowledging a moment when America lived up to its promise. It honors those who waited far too long for liberty and celebrates how far weāve come as a country. Like the Fourth of July, itās a celebration of freedom, just through a different lens of American history.ā
