Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital Commissions New Vehicles to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

By: Staff writer

The management of Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital (JFD Hospital) has commissioned three brand-new pickup trucks and an 18-seater bus to strengthen its logistics and enhance healthcare service delivery across southeastern and central Liberia.

This represents a major advancement for the hospital, which has been without operational vehicles since 2015. The absence of reliable transportation over the years severely hindered the hospital’s ability to deliver critical services, transport healthcare personnel, and respond effectively to medical emergencies.

The newly acquired vehicles are expected to restore mobility, improve operational efficiency, and ensure timely delivery of healthcare services to communities in need. Additionally, two new ambulances are scheduled to arrive in December 2025, further bolstering the hospital’s emergency response and patient referral capabilities.

This initiative aligns with the President of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism as foundational pillars for national progress.

The acquisition of these vehicles underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector and promoting equitable access to quality healthcare services nationwide.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Victor Kaizer, Chief Executive Officer of JFD Hospital, expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Liberia, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) for their ongoing support.

“For nearly a decade, our institution operated without any functional vehicles, making service delivery extremely difficult. The commissioning of these pickups and the bus marks a major step forward for Jackson F. Doe Hospital and demonstrates the government’s commitment, under the ARREST Agenda, to improving access to essential services for all Liberians,” said Dr. Kaizer.

He also extended appreciation to His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Liberia, for his leadership and vision in advancing inclusive national development. Dr. Kaizer reaffirmed the hospital’s dedication to supporting the government’s broader health objectives.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Mayor of Tappita who officially commissioned the vehicles alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health, MFDP, development partners, and local stakeholders.

Since assuming leadership in 2024, Dr. Kaizer has spearheaded a transformation at JFD Hospital, focusing on improving staff welfare and motivation key drivers of enhanced performance and efficiency. These ongoing reforms continue to position JFD Hospital as a model institution within Liberia’s healthcare system.

Located in Tappita, Nimba County, the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital is one of Liberia’s leading tertiary healthcare facilities. It serves patients from Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, B**g, and surrounding counties, providing critical and specialized medical services.
