Today is an ALERT DAY with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 4pm.
Expect a wintry mix, including freezing rain until mid-afternoon.
Roads will become icy in spots, as well as sidewalks and driveways.
Temperatures will hold around the freezing mark, so please be extra careful if you have to be out.
Quiet weather returns tonight into Saturday, with lows in the mid to upper 20s.
Afternoon highs to start our weekend will advance into the mid to upper 30s, a bit above our normal of 32 degrees.
Rain moves in Sunday, along with milder low to mid 40s.
Snow showers and colder weather returns next week, ahead of the new year on Thursday.

Merry Christmas! Travel conditions will be pretty good across the state. Highs will be in the 30s with a frisky northeasterly wind expected. Clouds will increase overnight, leading to a wintry mess for the first half of our Friday. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain will all be possible, making travel conditions tenuous. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will both be dry, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid to upper 30s.
Far north, some low 30s are more likely.
Holiday travel could be impacted on Friday.
An ALERT DAY is in place for freezing rain from Friday morning into the afternoon,
Temperatures will be right around the critical 32 degree mark.
Roads could be icy and a few power outages are possible.
Dry weather returns on Saturday with a few rain showers on Sunday.
Temperatures remain above normal in the upper 30s.

Any morning drizzle or mist will give way to drier conditions later today.
Roads will dry out with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 40s.
We'll also see some patchy sunshine by later this afternoon.
Overnight will be quiet with temperatures dipping to the mid to upper 20s.
Expect mostly cloudy skies on Christmas Eve, with highs in the mid to upper 30s.
Mostly cloudy conditions continue for Christmas, as afternoon temperatures return to the mid to upper 30s.
A light wintry mix overnight, will lead to some rain on Friday.
Next week will start off much colder.

A light mix of precipitation is expected overnight, but we shouldn't see any big impact on Tuesday morning's drive. Temps will hold steady in the 30s overnight, and move into the 40s Tuesday afternoon. We'll take a close look at Christmas on ABC12 News. JR abc12.com/weather

We start the holiday week with spotty snow showers and flurries will dance across mid-Michigan today.
Accumulations will be very minor with more melting, as temperatures this afternoon reach the mid to upper 30s.
A few rain or snow showers are possible tonight, with rising temperatures from the low to mid 30s, due to a southerly breeze.
Tuesday will be a bit more windy.
Morning clouds will give way to some patchy sunshine during the afternoon.
For Christmas Eve and Christmas, expect lots of clouds with dry conditions both days.
Temperatures will hold between the mid 30s to near 40 Christmas Eve, and upper 30s to low 40s Christmas Day.
A wintry mix is possible Friday, something we'll be monitoring closely.

Winds will diminish a little bit overnight as the wind direction becomes southerly. There will be a chance of some snow showers Saturday as high temperatures move well through the 30s. Sunday will be noticeably colder. Winds will remain a bit frisky right on through the weekend. We're following the Christmas Day forecast for you on ABC12 News. JR abc12.com/weather

While road conditions will improve this afternoon, we'll still be in the grips of some extra cold and windy weather.
Temperatures will hold steady in the low to mid 20s, with a gusty west wind.
Some gusts could top out around 40 mph.
Wind Advisories continue far north and the 127 corridor.
A few flurries or stray snow showers are possible as well.
Any standing water will freeze, due to the colder temperatures.
Temperatures rise overnight, from the upper teens to low 20s, due to a southerly breeze.
A few late day snow showers, with a chance of a stray rain shower is possible Saturday.
Afternoon highs will get near 40 degrees, ahead of a cold front.
Winter officially starts with sharply colder weather with highs in the low 20s on Sunday.
Milder weather returns next week, with a chance of 50 degrees for Christmas.

An "Alert Day" is in effect through Friday morning. Overnight, a strong cold front will move through. Behind it, rain will change to snow showers, gusty southerly winds will shift to the west, and temperatures will fall very quickly. Significant icing may result early Friday in many parts of Mid-Michigan. JR abc12.com/weather

Alert Day from 6pm tonight through Friday morning for icy roads from flash-freezing.
Spotty showers this morning will give way to a heavier rain tonight.
A strong southerly wind with gusts near 40 mph at times will help temperatures rise to around 50 degrees.
Behind a cold front, temperatures will fall sharply into the mid 20s.
Any rain will change over to snow showers.
The main threat will be flash-freezing of water on the roads, creating dangerous driving conditions Friday morning.
Expect snow showers and extra cold weather Friday, with temperatures in the low to mid 20s.
A few more snow showers develop late in the day on Saturday with highs in the upper 30s.
The first official day of winter arrives on Sunday with colder low 20s.
