🎶Celebrating Our Own: Fremont RE-2 Band Director Earns National Recognition🎶

We are proud to recognize Justin Nelson, Band Director at Florence Jr./Sr. High School, on his acceptance into the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA).

Membership in ASBDA is a distinguished honor, requiring nomination by current members and recognition for outstanding experience, character, and musicianship. Mr. Nelson’s selection is a reflection not only of his dedication and talent but also of the positive impact he continues to have on our students and community.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Nelson on this well-deserved achievement and in celebrating the excellence he brings to our school district’s band program every day.

Keep Our Stories Alive—We Need a Website Hero! The Wetmore-Hardscrabble Genealogical and Historical Society has recently learned that Typepad, the hosting service for our website, will soon be discontinued. Our site has been active since 2010 & holds a wealth of history & information about Wetmore & the surrounding communities. We would love to keep this valuable resource available, & we’re looking for a volunteer who could help us set up the site on a new hosting platform. If you have the skills & interest, we’d be grateful for your assistance! Comment below or email: [email protected]

Registration for this year's Apple Day is now open.

"This year’s Apple Day is expected to include a parade immediately followed by a street fair featuring vendors, live music, a pie-baking contest, and of course, free slices of apple pie served at noon. Penrose Park and Rec will also be hosting numerous apple-themed activities throughout the day."

During a recent meeting of Florence City Council, council members voted to approve a tax measure, which will appear on this November's ballot. If approved by voters, the measure will extend the City’s existing 0.5% sales and use tax - that’s earmarked for street construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance - until December 31, 2035. At the time of this posting, Florence citizens have not received a notice from the City of Florence concerning the proposed measure.
