Earlier this year during the April 21 meeting of Florence City Council, Councilmember Gayle MacKinnon stated the following in response to our calls for increased transparency when it comes to criminal activity in Florence:

"We up here have been cautioned by our attorney and the CIRSA attorney that we don't say anything. We no longer have an opinion. We listen to you, but we can't tell you what our opinion is," said MacKinnon.

While City Attorney Dan Findlay attempted to dismiss MacKinnon's statement in an email by suggesting she misspoke, it's clear by the lack of communication from council members and the heavily redacted documents we've obtained that they're still receiving highly questionable legal advice.

Florence deserves so much more, especially from those who have been elected to represent the interests of our citizens.

Huge congratulations to our very own FHS HUSKY CHEER team on securing an incredible 5th place finish at State! These ladies competed against 40 other squads from across Colorado. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication they demonstrated all season. Thank you to everyone who cheered them on and filled the stands. Husky Cheer Team, you made us proud!

In response to a CORA request seeking clarification on who authored and authorized a press release announcing the hiring of Lori Cobler, the City of Florence provided our publication with the heavily redacted email thread below. This is just another example of how the City refuses to operate with transparency.
