When people are passionate about something they love, it’s contagious. Mike…he loves his “Rhody’s”. He and his wife run a nursery from their home that specializes in rhododendrons, and it’s always an inspirational place to visit. It doesn’t take long for us to be transfixed by the beauty, and for smiles to creep onto our faces. Ever since our first visit a few months after we moved in, we’ve fallen in love with rhododendrons ourselves, and when they are in bloom, it is truly a spectacle to behold.
Dolly and Devin…we love our plants, but this was a full family activity. Even Kalepo started looking for flowers that caught his eye and ended up spending his own money to take some some plants of his own.
We made QUITE the haul. Mike was extremely generous. We caught him near the end of the season and benefited from a bunch of complimentary rhododendrons and azaleas that he needed to get rid of.
We found a variety of colors, sizes, and perhaps most importantly, fragrances. One in particular smelled just like a plumeria, immediately transporting us back to living in the islands.
We can’t wait to be able to plant these in our yard and see them grow over the years.
