Its the week before a major "family" holiday, and already this week I have met with four families regarding downsizing assistance for their aging parents. My phone will continue to ring for the next several weeks as I enter into my business's "busy season."

If you are beginning to have conversations about inviting an elderly parent or loved one to move into your home for greater safety and security, I hope these thoughts will be helpful to you.

Dear Friends:

This coming Saturday, I'll be hosting the 25th annual Pounding to fill the shelves at Florence Foodshare in time for the holidays.

This year, some special friends, Larry and Crystal Darling Farnsworth, have stepped up to make a financial match of $1 for every pound of food donated. This matching donation will make this year's Pounding donation total especially significant. The Farnsworths have generously supported the Pounding for many years and feel strongly about supporting the work Food Share does in our community.

Another dear friend, Becky Goehring, is matching an additional $15,000 on behalf of the Suzanne Greene and Rebecca Goehring Trust. Becky quietly supports many important causes and is a long-time volunteer with The Soup Brigade.

Over 800 households in Florence are food insecure -- senior citizens, disabled friends, single parents, young families with working parents. People you and I know and interact with often.

Today I am grateful to still be able to carry the torch for this 25 year annual event, and for the many caring friends who step in alongside me to make it happen. It is out of gratitude that we give. I humbly ask you to share this event post on your page to help spread the word so that Foodshare
will benefit mightily from this generous match. We can do a LOT if everyone gives a little.
