I had the opportunity yesterday to drive from Mexico Beach to Tallahassee. I traveled through Port St Joe, Appalachicola, St George Island and Carabelle. These little towns are well OFF the beaten track and have retained their charm. You can feel the energy just relax here. I took a side trip to the state park in St George Island and Im in love! It was a weekday but the beaches had just a few people here and there. You can definitely find a stretch all to yourself! You have the ocean side and then the bayou side. If you really want to experience Old Florida, you have to get away from the tourist towns!
