Feeling overwhelmed trying to juggle all the things — work, family, aging parents, and life in general? You’re not alone. 💜

I’m Lori Williams — Certified Senior Advisor, author, podcast host, and caregiver to my husband (a four-time stroke survivor). I’ve spent almost 20 years helping families navigate senior living and caregiving, and I know how stressful it can be when you don’t know where to start.

That’s why I love sharing what I’ve learned — because education is power, and when we understand our options, we can finally breathe again.

If your women’s group, church, or organization ever needs a speaker who gets it, I’d love to come share tips, resources, and a little encouragement.

Let’s make life a little easier — together. 💪

You’re overwhelmed. Your parent needs care, and you don’t even know where to start — so you do what we all do… you Google it.

That’s exactly what one of my clients did after her dad passed. Suddenly responsible for her mom with dementia, she turned to Google for help. The large community she found looked great online, but it wasn’t the right fit — her mom was shy, gentle, and easily overwhelmed.

When she reached out to me, we talked through her mom’s needs and personality. She’s an introvert, but always loved volunteering and helping others … a true nurturer at heart. I found a smaller, cozy residential care home that fit her perfectly. She moved in last month — and now she’s thriving. ❤️

If you’re feeling lost, you don’t have to do this alone.

My team and I guide families through this — and our service is 100% free.

🎙️PODCAST ALERT🎙️

For years, I’ve worked closely with seniors and caregivers, but one stage of aging that rarely gets discussed is menopause and perimenopause. It’s something nearly every woman will experience, yet so many of us go through it quietly, unsure of where to turn for guidance or support.

In this week’s podcast episode, I sit down with Carin Luna-Ostaseski, founder of Hot or Just Me, to talk about the real and often unspoken journey of menopause. Carin shares her own experience with hot flashes, brain fog, and anxiety and how these challenges inspired her to create a space for women to find comfort, community, and practical solutions.

We dive into everything from hormone changes and sleep struggles to menopause in the workplace and how to support each other through this transition. We also talk about Carin’s inspiring journey of reinvention, launching a new business in midlife and helping women feel empowered through it all. 💪

It’s time to bring menopause into the conversation, openly, honestly, and without shame.

Let’s normalize this season of life and remind one another that aging isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of deeper wisdom, strength, and connection.

Beginning November 1, more than 3,000 Denton residents who rely on SNAP benefits will temporarily lose access to crucial food resources as the current federal government shutdown continues.

If you or someone you know needs help, visit this page for a list of local food pantries in Denton and the surrounding area: http://bit.ly/432Hxt3

Community members who wish to help their neighbors can make a monetary donation to the United Way of Denton County’s temporary Food Insecurity Relief Fund to support neighbors in need: bit.ly/49trjgv.

Eligible households are encouraged to continue applying for SNAP benefits, as the state manages applications and is not currently affected by the shutdown. Benefits are expected to be distributed retroactively once federal operations resume. To apply for benefits or book an in-person appointment with a SNAP specialist at Serve Denton, visit https://bit.ly/4hwWp8V.

Taking away the car keys is never an easy conversation, especially when driving represents independence and freedom for your senior loved one. But you don’t have to navigate this tough topic alone.

Sometimes, having an outside voice can make all the difference. A professional such as a doctor or occupational therapist, can help assess driving ability and explain the safety concerns from a position of authority.

When these conversations come from a trusted expert , not just family, they can feel less personal and more objective.

It’s also helpful to approach the topic with empathy, focusing on safety rather than loss. Offer alternatives like senior transportation options or volunteer driver programs to help them maintain independence and connection.

💬 Have you had to have this conversation with a loved one? What helped make it easier?

👉 Listen to this week’s episode of Aging in Style with Lori Williams to learn how to handle this delicate topic with compassion and confidence. ➡️ https://www.loriwilliams-seniorservices.com/aging-in-style-podcast
