Derek would like to welcome, Drake, to his weekly Student of the Week profile!

What musician/band sparked your interest in beginning to play music?

D: Well there’s multiple I remade Snooze by Sza, I remade Ivy by Frank Ocean, I did Like That by Metro Boomin and many others. By making these songs it sparked my interest and ideas to make some of my own songs since my all around goal is to be a music songwriter/Producer.

What's your favorite part about learning to perform music?

D: Music has became a huge part of my life. I am currently working on an album and the title of the album is Music Is My Therapy. I have really bad anxiety and I have tried a therapist but my real therapy is music (it’s like in my blood). So I learn music for my own enjoyment and my well being.

What do you hope to accomplish through music?

D: As a young musician I want to inspire other teenagers to do music because it is an amazing thing. But my main goal for music is becoming a producer, songwriter, and vocalist.

How long have you been learning with Derek?

D: About 2 years

What's your favorite song that you've learned to play?

D: My favorite song I have ever remade has to be like him by Tyler the creator because of the creativity in the instrumental and harmonics in the vocals.

What's your favorite genre/style of music?

D: My favorite genre of music is R&b/soul
