MAN BREAKS INTO CRISIS CENTER IN FONTANA AND THREATENS EMPLOYEES
A 66-year-old transient broke into the Merrill Crisis Center in Fontana and threatened the employees before being taken into custody, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
No injuries were reported during the incident, which occurred on Sept. 30 at 3:45 a.m.
Deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station went to the facility (which is a short-stay crisis stabilization unit) after receiving a report of a man acting erratic while attempting to break the window to enter the building.
While deputies were responding, the suspect broke the front window and entered the facility. He picked up a piece of the broken glass and was waving it around in a threatening manner toward facility staff. Fearing for their safety, staff members retreated to a separate area of the facility until deputies arrived.
Deputies arrived on scene and established communication with the suspect. After successful de-escalation efforts by deputies, he was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center. Upon the booking process, he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, concealed on his person.

FONTANA POLICE REPORTS: MAN ARRESTED ON ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE
A man was stabbed during an incident in Fontana last week, and a suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to the Fontana Police Department.
On Sept. 24 at about 5:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Sierra Avenue regarding a stabbing. Officers arrived and contacted the victim in his vehicle. The victim appeared to have multiple stab wounds. The victim was treated at the scene by officers and San Bernardino County Fire/Medics. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Initially, the victim and a witness lied, claiming the incident had occurred in Upland and was committed by an unknown suspect.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, 30-year-old Ga Dakota Moss, had allegedly stabbed the victim. Moss was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
In other unrelated incidents last week:
-- MAN ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT
On Sept. 24 at about 12:20 a.m., Fontana officers attempted to stop a vehicle at Arrow Boulevard and Cottonwood Avenue for a violation of California vehicle codes. The vehicle failed to yield, and a short pursuit ensued.
The driver, identified as Martin Lozier, 38, fled on foot at Cottonwood Avenue and Durango Avenue. A perimeter was established, and officers located Lozier hiding in a motorhome in the 13600 block of Lexus Lane.
A search of his vehicle allegedly revealed methamphetamine and a loaded shotgun. Officers also discovered that Lozier had a Ramey warrant for assault with a deadly weapon from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Lozier was booked at West Valley Detention Center.
-- SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER SEARCH WARRANT
On Sept. 24 at about 6 a.m., detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC) investigated reports of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being allegedly downloaded by an individual identified as Kentrell Johnson, 22, at a residence in Fontana.
A search warrant was served at the residence, and Johnson was taken into custody. Investigators allegedly recovered CSAM material from Johnson’s cellphone.
Johnson was booked at West Valley Detention Center.
-- TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED AFTER LONG PURSUIT
On Sept. 24 at about 9:20 a.m., police located a semi-truck displaying a stolen license plate. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Foothill Boulevard and Palmetto Avenue. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit lasted about 1 hour and 40 minutes, traveling through multiple cities and counties on both surface streets and freeways in Southern California. During the pursuit, the daughter of the passenger reported that the driver would not allow the passenger to exit the vehicle, which escalated the incident into a possible kidnapping.
The pursuit came to an end in Baldwin Park with the assistance of the North County SWAT Team. A BearCat armored vehicle was deployed to disable the semi-truck. The driver, Bill Fayed, 54, was taken into custody. The passenger, who had outstanding warrants, was also arrested.
Both subjects were transported to local hospitals for medical clearance before being booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
-- MAIL THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED
On Sept. 26 at about 4:26 p.m., Fontana officers were dispatched to a report of a theft of mail in progress in the 9000 block of Poplar Avenue. A witness advised that a male subject had taken packages off a front porch before fleeing the scene on foot.
After reviewing video surveillance footage and following up on investigative leads, officers were able to identify the alleged suspect as Abraham Cervantes, 34. Cervantes was found to be on active probation for grand theft and had multiple prior theft-related convictions.
Officers later located Cervantes, and he was taken into custody without incident. A search of his vehicle revealed the stolen packages, which were recovered and returned to the victim. Cervantes was booked at West Valley Detention Center after a probation hold was obtained.

FONTANA STUDENT RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP FROM FERRELLGAS
Matthew Ramirez of Fontana has received a scholarship from the Ferrellgas Scholarship Program.
Matthew is the son of Saul Ramirez, a service technician for Ferrellgas. This fall, Matthew will attend UCLA, where he will major in chemistry.
“As a parent of Matthew, I could tell you a lot of things about my son. However, if I were to choose one that stands out, it is that every day I go to work I never have to worry about Matthew’s perspective towards his education or his behavior in life…. He’s kindhearted, caring, thoughtful, hardworking, a great brother, and a role model to his younger sister (she’s going to miss him). He loves to compose music and hike mountains with me on weekends,” said Saul Ramirez and other family members.
For more than 30 years, the Ferrellgas Scholarship Program has provided meaningful financial support to the dependent children of Ferrellgas and Blue Rhino employees.
