Electrical installations are underway to provide power to all the electronics in the studio. The electrical load needed to power the transformers, electronics, analog gear, the stage and overheard the lighting in the truss (additional truss will be installed on the ceiling) is over twice of an average 3 bedroom house and required a beefed up panel service with lots of breakers.

This space is technically called an offset vaulted ceiling with a floating tip out. By using acoustical panels and suspended baffles called sound clouds sound can be shaped to create natural reverberation. There are 4 separate spaces, each with its own characteristics. Work begins this coming week for another recording studio first- a guest bar. Why? Clients love to bring their support group with them sometimes. We are not licensed to sell liquor, but clients can bring their own to share among themselves. They can also move conversations there, away from the production area and still be involved.

Hartford Studios Recording and Multimedia is a hybrid setup meaning it’s designed for analog and digital or both recording. For example, drummers prefer to record drums on tape and then transfer to digital. Why?
Tape saturation and compression don’t distort or clip, plus the tape warmth is still king.
Digital audio and multimedia utilize so much power that we use high powered gamer systems to maintain the riule: at 100% usage, the computer shouldn’t exceed 50% utilization.The studio will be running 3 coupled computers and electronics shown here in this anxiouslly waiting space.

Another Connor Sports flooring finishup in the lobby area. Studio B entrance is straight ahead on the left and will be hardwired to Studio A. It’s a new concept to aid in live recording, and there are other features that are a first for recording studios at Hartford Studios Recording and Multimedia in the coming months.
