A call to one or more retailers for a fixed length of time; i.e., 1 day, 30 days, etc., signals to the general public and the subject of the boycott that you lack conviction. An effective boycott requires the protest continue until the objective -- in the case of recently announced rollbacks to DEI initiatives -- a change in policy -- is attained. Otherwise, it's an empty gesture.

7 Things to Remember When Insisting on DIY Marketing

1) Clearly define your audience
2) pay attention to what your audience values
3) earn consumers' business; no company or organization is entitled to the public's support
4) budget for paid promotions -- you're going to get what you paid for
5) follow grammar and syntax rules
6) fully disclose info on the business; i.e., physical location (if applicable), phone number, web site/page URL, e-mail address, contact name, etc., in your messaging
7) avoid posting messages on social media in upper case.

It's illogical to ask businesses to post pics to business group pages but not permit the inclusion of links to web pages so consumers may find more info.

When establishing a business page on social media, make every effort to respond to DMs, e-mails, and phone inquiries. Include hyperlinks to web pages and contact information (company name, phone, contact name, address) whenever possible. Otherwise, all the promos, etc., will go to waste.

Promotions Versus Advertising

Promotions and advertising aren't exactly the same thing. Each has a distinct purpose -- promotions are free and paid messaging intended to push short-term (or immediate) sales; advertising is paid messaging best suited for developing brand identity and increasing sales over time.
