Hey, Forney 🤠 School starts Wednesday, and the sidewalks get to talk first.

Chalk the Walk is Tuesday, Aug 11, from 4 to 6 PM at every Forney ISD campus. Bring your own sidewalk chalk and leave a good luck note on the walkway students and staff use to get inside. All 26 campuses are in, so pick your kid's school or the one down your street.

Last call, peach people 🍑 Ham Orchards in Terrell wraps up its season in mid August, so this week is one of your last chances to grab a bucket of some of the sweetest peaches in Texas. The award winning homemade ice cream alone is worth the trip. They are closed Sundays, so plan for Monday to Saturday, 9 to 5, at 11939 County Road 309 in Terrell. Heads up, Forney baseball and softball families. 🤠 A new academy called D-BAT is coming to 18514 FM 740.

Think indoor batting cages that throw real baseballs and softballs, plus lessons, camps, memberships, and birthday parties. Rain or shine, your hitter gets reps.

No open date yet. Their site says coming soon, so we will share the day it drops.

Forney, Saturday is the one to circle this weekend. 🤠 James Avery throws its grand opening at Village at Gateway, Westfield Homes opens a new model home at Meraki with a free sundae bar, and the Mesquite rodeo lights up just up the road.

💍 James Avery grand opening. Sat 10 AM to 8 PM at Village at Gateway. First 100 buyers get a free gift.
🏡 Westfield Homes model home opening. Sat 10 AM to 1 PM at Meraki. Free sundaes and a YETI giveaway.
🤠 Mesquite Championship Rodeo. Sat 7:30 PM, free concert after by David Adam Byrnes.

At Texas Zoofari Park in Kaufman, you roll 6 miles through open pasture while zebras, giraffes, and llamas walk right up to your window. Grab a $6 feed bucket and the kids feed them from their seats. Open daily 9am to 4pm, tickets from $21.95.

Hey, Forney 🤠 It’s official: the new Target at Village at Gateway is OPEN.

We walked the whole thing on opening weekend so you don’t have to guess. About 148,000 square feet, a full grocery section, an in-store Starbucks, and Drive Up right out front, tucked next to H-E-B at 11520 E US Hwy 80. Doors are open 7 AM to 11 PM.

That’s 190+ new local jobs and one more reason you don’t have to leave town.
