📆✒Mark your calendars for an incredible event that unites us in the spirit of generosity!

On Thursday, October 23, from 6-7:30, Eagles Hall in Fort Bragg, Mendocino County Safe Space Project, Mendocino Dance Project, and Redwood Coast Seniors will present an exciting 10-minute pitch. Each individual (or group of individuals) that has donated $100 will place their vote for the winner. The awardee will be announced as "live" and receive up to $10,000.💸

All donations above $10,000 will be split between the other nominees.

Last Call for Nominations!

Who Is Your Mendocino Heroine?

The Kelley House Museum invites you to share the stories of remarkable Mendocino Coast women whose influence shaped our community. These stories may be featured in our upcoming exhibit, Women’s Work, which highlights the vital, often behind-the-scenes, contributions of local women to family, community, and society.

Think of a great-grandmother, a beloved aunt, a community leader, or a woman whose dedication to her craft or trade embodies the spirit of “women’s work” (however you define it).

Deadline: September 22, 2025

While we can’t guarantee every nomination will be included, we hope to feature as many as possible.

Help us honor the women who wove the fabric of Mendocino’s history!

To submit a nomination, send an email to [email protected] and include:
1) Nominee’s Information: Full name and relevant dates.
2) A three-sentence summary explaining how this historic woman's life exemplifies "women's work."
3) A photograph of her or some of her memorabilia, if you have any.
4) A link to any other relevant information.
5) Your contact name, email, and phone number.

‼️ Our shelter is FULL ‼️
We have an overwhelming number of cats and kittens right now, and we simply cannot take in any more cats. Please do not leave animals at or near the shelter.

If you need to surrender, call us at 707-964-7729 to be placed on our waiting list. In the meantime, try reaching out to friends, family, or neighbors who may be able to foster until we have space.

👉 And if you’ve ever thought about fostering or adopting a cat or kitten—NOW is the time! Even a short-term foster makes a life-saving difference.

Thank you for your compassion, patience, and support as we do everything we can for the cats already in our care. 💙
