Halloween might be this week but if you are like us you woke up this weekend thinking “we still haven’t done Spooky Season Fun!” So this weekend we worked to squeeze in as much as we could and you still have time too!

We hit Bartel’s Farm for pumpkins and a hay ride but couldn’t miss our yearly tradition of completing the corn maze at Jack Lantern’s either so we did them both!

We then headed home to carve pumpkins, make some festive fall chili and watch The Nightmare before Christmas.

Spooky season doesn’t have to be huge or expensive and there is still plenty of time this week to make memories before we move into November!

Did you know my favorite tradition for is happening today?

🥾The Bronze Boot Run leading up to the border war with University of Wyoming! Each year the day before we play The Cowboys 🤠 the ROTC from each school participates in a relay run up highway 287 to meet at the border where they exchange the Bronze Boot, this year it is moving from CSU to UW stadium!

A few weeks ago thanks to we were able to attend our very first CSU football game as a family of 4 and even though there have been lots of program changes since then we are so excited to make this a family tradition. I spent most of the game saying “should we become big football fans now?” 🏈

We are normally a ⚾️baseball family but from the pre-game tailgate to the energy inside the stadium this was such a fun family activity (no matter the score) we may be adding CSU football fans to our fall activity list!

I wore my only CSU gear which was a 30 year old hoodie, as a UNC bear alum I may need to up my Rams gear too!

Are you a football family?

Go Rams! 🐏🐏

The Bobcat Ridge Natural Area just got even better. This weekend, a new trail opened!

The Elk Meadow Trail is a new 1.75-mile trail that is considered easy to moderate and takes you through the meadow. You can stop at the historic cabin that dates back to 1917. This trail gives us new access to the most recent portion of the Bobcat Ridge Natural Area, extending natural access in Fort Collins even farther. The new trail is open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, but please note that no dogs are allowed at Bobcat Ridge.

This area is not wooded so on a very hot day it would be, well very hot. But it is going to be gorgeous for morning and evening walks as well as those wonderful fall days like now.

We loved learning more about the history of the Bobcat Ridge Natural area and adding more access to this space.

Have you been to Bobcat Ridge Natural Area? Will you use this new trail access?

This weekend Fort Collins held its first annual and for someone who has lived here most of my life I am so excited for this one!

This two day festival had all the Gilmore girl vibes (including a Gilmore girls look alike contest)

We went on Saturday and enjoyed just the leisurely feel of being able to walk along Mountain avenue and meander through the square.

From vendors, live music, craft beer, a kids section and scavenger hunt it had all the fall vibes. The weather definitely helped bring in the fall feels but I am always excited for next year.

Also every year we LOVE the square skeletons, they are their all spooky season so go see how many you can find.

Did you make it out this weekend?

📍 Kiln Coworking

The newest .co space opened in Fort Collins this week and Ben was able to escape our work from home life for a day and check it out!

You know as a work from home family we are always looking for new places to work from and Kiln has taken that to the next level.

Ben said it had lots of

🪴plants

🪑 plenty of open seating for both deep work and socializing.

☎️ISO booths for taking phone calls.

☕️ Free coffee and kombucha on tap.

🗣️ Beautiful conference rooms and an introverts nook.

It was a great combination of office vibes and quiet space

Now I am jealous I didn’t get to visit with him, think we could swing a This is NOCO work business meeting?

If you are looking for your next coworking space check this one out!

Have you been to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keensburg? 🦁🐯🐅🐻

Just about an hour from NOCO you will find lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) as well as many other rescued animals that have found refuge right here in Colorado!

I was able to attend the donor luncheon this past weekend with my mom, who is a long time donor, and learn more about the history of this animal sanctuary.

Some of my favorite fun facts I learned:

1) The owner started the sanctuary at just 17 years old after seeing the treatment of “surplus” tigers at zoos across the country.
2) They now have three locations across Colorado totally 40,000 acres!
3)The sanctuary worked for years to get the USDA to allow large acreage enclosures when previously animals in zoos had to have a concrete pad and roof on all enclosures!
4)They now rescue animals from all over the world who have been found inside homes, circuses, illegal zoos and more. They even have many of the tigers from The Tiger King!
5)You walk on a risen platform because the large territorial animals do no consider the sky to be a threat to their territory!

Now I am not going to lie this is not an adorable family activity day passes start at $30 for kids and $50 for adults. (Monthly or yearly donors do get access with their donation for them and 3 guests) but the cost is to ensure this remains a sanctuary focused on the animals and not a zoo for our education or experience.

Even with the high cost I think it is worth a visit or donation. And if you can’t make it at least you know we are in the land of Lions, Tigers and Bears without ever leaving CO!

For decades NOCO has been synonymous with craft beer from the boom of amazing breweries to the culture surrounding analyzing, brewing and drinking beer you can’t separate the craft from our culture but is that changing or our tastes just evolving again and NOCO craft beer will evolve with them?

Ben and I have been immersed in this culture for our entire relationship, I am talking our wedding theme was “love is brewing” and our centerpieces were growlers from our favorite breweries. We have brewed our own beer and even own a company that makes beer themed candles (stay tuned for more on this soon) but as long as I can remember Ben has said he would make a documentary about Colorado beer culture specifically and it is finally happening!

INTRODUCING: STATE OF BEER

A 5 part beer documentary series presented by This NOCO. Every episode will take a look a different aspect of beer culture here from the passion and science of greeting, to consumer behavior and changing trends, beer as identity in NOCO and more.

You are not gonna want to miss the names and perspectives we have coming your way!

Episode one dropping soon. . . .
