🎇🎆The Fourth of July is full of parades, food, fun, and fireworks. I will take any excuse for sun, fun, and fireworks, and NOCO has no shortage of any of it.

Our favorite family tradition has been sitting along Mountain Avenue for the Fort Collins parade, but we always want to see the longhorns at the Greeley Stampede Parade. This year, we are spending the 4th of July in Wisconsin with Kelsi’s mom, but we will be dreaming of the 4th in NOCO. And don’t worry, we will make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun!

🎤🎸The quiet (or not-so-quiet) hum of summertime is upon us. I love this time of year when it feels like all of Northern Colorado is always outside. There is always something going on and you can just walk down the street and happen upon a great activity, one of the best things about summer is all of the options to enjoy live music for free around NOCO.

No matter where in NOCO you are or what night of the week you want to go out there is probably a free summer concert series happening, so many it makes it hard to keep track of them!

The weather this week had us dreaming of spring and enjoying all the natural areas that NOCO has to offer. 🌸🌄
And we know, we know that this weather likely means a snowstorm is on its way. (Just look outside today ) ❄️🌨️

But hey SAVE this post for the nice days ahead and check back for more natural areas you don’t want to miss in NOCO this April

1) Wild Natural Area- This BRAND NEW natural area opened in Loveland on February 28th along highway 34, it has a short natural surface trail and is perfect for viewing the large elk herd that settles nearby. Bonus- it backs up to so you can stop for a drink while you are there!
2) Reservoir Ridge Natural Area- This is one of our favorite places for an evening walk. With access to 9.6 mile FootHills Trail and gorgeous views of Horsetooth and the foothills, this Fort Collins Natural area is easily accessible and great walking spot. Open daily 5:00 am - 11:00 pm (Parking lots open dawn till dusk)
3) Riverbend Ponds- 7 ponds perfect for fishing and around three miles of trails we love hitting this natural area of an after work walk and Ben loves to take the boys here to fish. Open 5:00 am- 11:00 pm
4) Devil’s Backbone Open Space- The “devil’s backbone” itself is a geologic formation known as “hogback” creating a spectacular backdrop for the 17.25 miles of trail that connect to Rimrock Open Space and Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. Open Sunrise to sunset, but be sure to check conditions will sometimes close for muddy or winter conditions.
5) Sheep Draw Natural Area- This natural area in Greeley is only accessible by the Poudre Trail which leaves it a quiet and relaxing place where the Sheep Creek meets the Poudre River. A soft surface path makes it perfect for viewing birds and wildflowers. Open 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.
