Boulder's iconic Dark Horse Tavern could be demolished by Dec. 31, if a ruling by the city attorney's office stands. But the owner seeking to redevelop the site is pleading for more time. Williams Village II will include a new location for the bar, but that space won't be ready until the second phase of the project, with the tavern being demolished in the first phase. The Dark Horse has been considering a temporary location. The city attorney says a plat cannot be issued while the building still stands.

A ruling by the Boulder city attorney’s office would force demolition of the Dark Horse Tavern by the end of the year — months before owners of the 50-year-old bar had expected, but the decision has the Williams Village II development’s owner up in arms.

[Sponsored Content] The Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that the “felonious killing exception” to the noneconomic damages cap in the Wrongful Death Act now applies to corporations. This decision carries implications for Colorado businesses, who previously may have assumed they had less liability exposure than individuals, in wrongful death cases. Companies should review operational safety protocols, existing regulatory compliance programs, and contracts, and speak with their insurance brokers to ensure their liability under this cap expansion is addressed.
