Dresden. The NUTCRACKER. The Semperoper Dresden presents “The Nutcracker” ballet by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky.
December 21- 25, 2025
This year’s production is a unique interpretation of the world’s favorite fairytale classic.
Choreographers Aaron S. Watkin and Jason Beechey have drawn on the stories of Hoffmann to create a fairytale classical ballet set in Dresden during the holiday season. The ballet takes the audience to Confiturenburg on Christmas Eve, where Marie and her beloved Nutcracker doll will go through a battle with mischievous mice and embark on a wonderful journey through the land of sweet dreams — a wonderful allegory of the transition to adulthood.
"The Nutcracker" premiered in 1892 in St. Petersburg, — the ballet, where Tchaikovsky masterfully continued his theme of love overcoming evil and reached new heights in symphonic richness.
Enjoy festive magic at the Semperoper with Tchaikovsky’s classic “Nutcracker” ballet.

Ratmansky's Kallirhoe | Ballet | Vienna State Opera.
In Kallirhoe, choreographer Alexei Ratmansky brings to life one of the earliest love stories ever written — a tale from ancient Greece where jealousy, fate, and forgiveness intertwine. Set to the radiant music of Aram Khachaturian, the ballet transforms Chariton’s ancient romance into a sweeping modern vision.
At its heart lies a question as old as art itself: how does love survive betrayal and time?
Ratmansky’s choreography doesn’t just tell the story — it breathes through it, turning myth into movement, emotion into architecture.
The Vienna State Ballet unveils this work in its European premiere on October 19, 2025 — a moment where antiquity meets modern sensibility, and the language of dance speaks for the soul.

Musical Direction - Paul Connelly
Choreography - Alexei Ratmansky
Music - Aram Khachaturian
Kallirhoe — Madison Young
Chaireas — Victor Caixeta
Dionysios — Alessandro Frola
Mithridates —Timoor Afshar

The Lucerne Festival is Switzerland’s largest classical music festival. This year it is a grand and exciting event under the theme “Open End” and is held from August 12 to September 14.

This year’s edition is dedicated to the final summer festival under Executive and Artistic Director Michael Haefliger, who has been at the helm of the festival since 1999. About 120 events are planned within the framework of the festival, including the premiere of Mahler's 10th Symphony, 27 symphony concerts, solo performances, chamber music, family evenings and concerts. Among them are "40 Minutes", "On the Streets" and a performance by a symphony orchestra on the lake shore.

Resident composer Marco Stroppa will delight the audience with new works in a duet with famous "etoile artists" Winnie Huang and Tabea Zimmermann. One of the highlights will be the European debut of Ark Nova, an inflatable mobile concert hall created by Anish Kapoor and Arata Isozaki. From September 4 to September 14, 35 interdisciplinary performances in the format of short musical numbers will take place in this unusual space.

The festival will also mark the centenary of Pierre Boulez's birth. In honor of this event, a special series "Boulez's Cosmos" will be released, which explores his views on composition as an ever evolving and never-ending creative process.
