Since moving to the Riverland area in Fort Lauderdale, I have always felt a sense of community and home. We have an online chat forum where we share ideas, lost pets, new places to eat and many upcoming events. This online forum is not enough! There are so many other people that do not see this and are not getting all they can get from our community. For example, I just discovered the community po
ol! My husband, myself and our son had a blast on Sunday but had no idea it was there until a neighbor mentioned it. 2 years of living here and this is the first time I am hearing of this. There are also several parks that I bet no one is aware of either. I propose a monthly magazine that is completely advertising driven so it can be free to the community. It will be mailed to all homes (free of charge) in the Riverland and surrounding communities. It will have sections for upcoming events, community/town hall meetings, general history about our community and lists of emergency outlets for human and pets. There will also be a section for lost pet posters and pets that are up for adoption. I'd also like a section for realtors to list their listings in the area. There will also be a section where community members can voice their concerns, such as the recent break-ins. If we can all stay informed, we can make a positive difference in our community!
