Every year, for 10 years now, I seek what my word of the year is and this year was no surprise…PURPOSE.
Why a word of the year?
I have learned I don’t do well with creating a list of things that I really know I need to do but I really don’t want to do. Let’s face it…another day isn’t going to motivate you to do something your heart is not in. A word of the year embodies your aspirations and values for the upcoming year. This word acts as a compass, guiding your decisions and actions in a way that aligns with your overall vision. It's a more holistic and intuitive approach to goal-setting, one that emphasizes internal motivation and personal growth over external pressures.
What is a word of the year?
A decade ago I started a word of the year instead to have some type of direction for the year. Simply put, a 'word of the year' is a single word that you choose to represent your focus and intention for the coming year. It's not just a random word; it's one that resonates deeply with you. It serves as a guiding principle, influencing your decisions, actions, and overall mindset.
Unlike a goal, a word of the year is more abstract and open to interpretation. This flexibility is one of its greatest strengths. It allows you to apply the word to various aspects of your life, from your business to your health and personal development. Think of your word of the year as a theme that runs through your life for the next 365 days. It's a lens through which you view opportunities and challenges, helping you to make choices that align with your overarching vision. It's a constant reminder of what's truly important to you, keeping you grounded and focused.
So… what’s your word of the year?
