🙏🏿Our community has been deeply affected by the recent storm, and my thoughts are with everyone as we navigate through this challenging time. I pray for a speedy recovery for all those impacted.
In light of the storm, I wanted to share some helpful information for those dealing with homeowners' insurance claims:
1️⃣ Secure your home and cover any damaged areas to prevent further harm.
2️⃣ Take inventory of all damages, including lost items, food (due to power outages), and expenses incurred to protect your home.
3️⃣ Most insurance policies offer Replacement Cost Coverage (RCV), but your initial payment might be based on Actual Cash Value (ACV). Remember to submit repair invoices after completion to recover the full RCV. (a 2nd payment will be sent)
4️⃣ Don't forget to include other structures like storage buildings, garages, fencing, grills, trampolines, decks, or any other personal property or structures in your claim if they're damaged.
5️⃣ If a tree has fallen on your home, document it with photos and keep the removal invoice to submit to your insurance company.
6️⃣ Roof damage from hail likely means damage to gutters, window screens, windows, roof fascia, and vinyl siding. Ensure all affected areas are included in your claim.
7️⃣ Check to make sure no water is entering your home from the exterior damage.
Stay safe. Let's support each other through these trying times. 🌟
