We greatly appreciate being part of the Trident family. At every turn, doing business with this company has been one of the best decisions I've made since opening the studio.

First... the console is absolute FIRE. I put hands and ears on several of the biggest names in the biz, and the Trident build material craft and sound quality is in the peer group with the best money can buy.

But... the bonus is they are doing business in a way that is a real partnership. They helped get the deal done. Built it to my spec (16 ch and Main Bus w/ transformers, 8 ch and Groups w/out transformers). And... they do stuff like this, unprompted, to help support the studio. I spoke with other console makers who had no chill and only sales ego (deal killer). That's real. It matters.

If you need a recording session, come use this board and hear the quality of their design. If you need a great preamp or eq, come take a studio tour and demo this board... and then buy one for yourself. Great preamps and eq! You will not be disappointed with their products or support.

Great article! Solid advice. Commit. Make good sounds while recording. Never assume you'll make the better version in post. Fix it in pre.

Let mixing be creative and a balancing act of good sounds... not a process for transforming mediocre sounds into something better.

Great tone starts with the player. Then the instruments. Then the mics and analog chain. Then the mix. Make it sound good at each phase. Never say "we'll fix it in the mix" ... thats not what mixing is supposed to do.

Committing sounds complete with processing as you track them is a popular approach, but for those who don’t do it it seems unnecessarily restrictive. Why do it? Part of the answer lies in understanding what mixing ought to be and how changing technology has affected what mixing is today.

Ridonkluous! I have NEVER used this many mics on such a small kit. Prob never will again. Hihat mic? Insanity. But...

Tomorrow is Drum Lab and we're pulling out all the stops. This abundance of mics give us Standard, Glyn Johns, vintage mono, etc. All at once.

Do you need this to make great drum recordings? Absolutely NOT. What you need is a drummer who knows how to slap and think creatively. And... we got that too. Gary Greene, thank you for sharing with everyone tomorrow. 🙏

Love this story and all the history behind Trident consoles. Buying the Trident 88 was the single best purchase for our studio. We're able to work faster and it sounds great.

The studio should disappear leaving the artist free to focus on music... not worrying about how to operate software or learning gear. Don't wait on someone else who's toying with their preamps and mics on your dime. Let the tech and pressure disappear... when it's this fast and everything sounds good... you just get to play.

We're setup and ready to record in 1hr. If you can nail it in three takes, the song gets finished in ONE DAY. Or take your time and enjoy the musical playground. Your choice. Either way... Get it done and have fun in the process.
