Besides Podcasting I love filmmaking 🎥 🎞️ and so I love critiques and reviews about my favorite shows and preferred movies 🍿.
📺 Hence, I just finished Silo Season 2 — Let’s Talk About That Ending (and the PEZ Dispenser) 🚨 Spoilers Ahead!
Okay, fellow Silo fans — the Season 2 finale left my head spinning. Juliette and Bernard trapped in an inferno, a flashback to pre-apocalypse D.C., and then… a PEZ dispenser. Not just any PEZ — a yellow duck, handed off in the past, then reappearing in the present timeline.
At first it seems like a nostalgic callback, right? But the more I think about it, the more brilliant and sinister it feels.
👉 PEZ = controlled delivery system.
Just like truth in the silo — dispensed in tiny, manageable doses by those in power. Sweet on the outside, tightly controlled underneath. That dispenser isn’t just candy. It’s the system in disguise.
👉 The duck = innocence? Or vulnerability?
Think “sitting duck.” That’s exactly what the silo residents are — kept safe, fed lies, unaware they’re targets of a much larger machine.
👉 Symbol of guilt or memory?
Was Daniel (the congressman) giving Helen the PEZ as a last piece of a world about to be destroyed? A secret reminder of what they were about to trade for “safety”? Or a quiet rebellion?
The show is so much more than a sci-fi mystery — it’s a layered commentary on control, memory, and survival. And that little yellow PEZ dispenser might just be one of the smartest metaphors I’ve seen on TV in a while.
