Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy were married for 52 years. They performed together on radio, film and television, Their film work as a couple included The Seventh Cross (1944), The World According to Garp (1982), Batteries Not Included (1987), Blonde Fever (1944), Cocoon (1985), Cocoon: The Return (1988), Foxfire (1987), Camilla (1994), The Moon and Sixpence (1959), The Green Years (1946) and To Dance with the White Dog (1993). The couple had twp children together, Tandy and Christopher Cronyn.
Jessica appeared in over 100 stage productions and had more than 60 roles in film and television, receiving 4 Tony Awards, an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award, In addition to the films she made with her husband Hume, Jessica starred in The Birds, Nobody's Fool, Fried Green Tomatoes,
Driving Miss Daisy, Dragonwyck, Much Ado About Nothing, Used People, The House on Carroll Street, The Bostonians, The January Man, Forever Amber, among others. At the age of 80, Jessica became the oldest actress to win the Best Actress Oscar (for her performance in Driving Miss Daisy). She died of cancer at the age 85 in Easton, CT. Her last 2 films, Nobody's Fool and Camilla, were released posthumously.
Hume appeared in many stage productions, films and television shows during his career, In addition to the films he made with his wife Jessica, Hume starred in Shadow of a Doubt, Brute Force, The Postman Always Rings Twice, People Will Talk,
Lifeboat, Cleopatra, Ziegfeld Follies, Phantom of the Opera (1943), The Sailor Takes a Wife, Marvin's Room, The Parallax View, Brewster's Millions, The Pelican Brief, among others. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in The Seventh Cross and also won a Tony Award for his role as Polonius in Richard Burton's Hamlet (1964). A couple of years after Jessica died, he married Susan Cooper. In 2003, he died of cancer at the age of 91 in Fairfield, CT.
