This will not be a happy post.
Tonight was another wonderful Trade Night. Almost 50 showed up to hang out with their fellow collectors and exchange cards. We had a blast and the good times were flowing.
Then someone had to ruin it.
Around 8pm someone approached us with a trade. The cards looked very familiar. They had done a few trades with us that night, but this one was suspicious. Within about 2 minutes of watching our camera footage (we have many cameras) we saw this person raiding our boxes and binders and discount graded card case, taking the cards out of their sleeves and top loaders, and walking around the room trading them with people that had no idea they were stolen cards.
This individual tried to deny it at first, but they were on camera. We unfortunately can’t watch 50 people at once and expect our guests to act appropriately. It didn’t help that we were also short-staffed.
The thief faced SEVERE consequences. We said it after the first time we caught someone stealing there would be little room for sympathy for the next person that stole fromom us, and we delivered on that promise tonight. We still don’t even know the full scope of how muchh they stole.
This is a warning to anyone else that thinks you can come in and get away with theft at Dynamo: don’t try it. We will call the cops. We will prosecute. We have a lot of cameras, there are zero blindspots, and you won’t get away with it.
The next Trade Night I hope there is no nonsense and we can all focus on the hobby we love with the people that make it special.
Thank you all for being so wonderful.
