10,000 for the Troops is in full force in SWFL! In addition to the mayoral challenge, Canterbury School Fort Myers senior Jess P. has taken the challenge to her school’s Sunshine Club and through her non-profit organization, has a goal of over 2,000 cards for the troops this year.

Even a single card makes a difference in a deployed soldier’s holiday this year. If you would like to join us, drop your card(s) off at any Mel’s Diner location by December 6th. Envelopes should be unsealed, and free of any personal information or glitter. Let’s make this year the biggest one yet!

How do you feel about the "nuclear option" in the Senate?

Republicans didn't need to use it this time, and possibly for good reason. The "nuclear option" is a procedural maneuver in the U.S. Senate used by the majority party to overcome minority obstruction by changing a Senate rule with a simple majority vote instead of the usual 60-vote threshold. It is named this way because it is considered a last-resort tactic with potentially significant, precedent-altering consequences for both parties, similar to the extreme nature of nuclear weapons.
