🐾The sky went quiet over Estero today, then it filled with a flyover for one very good boy.

Earlier today, a sea of officers and deputies from all over Lee County and across Florida packed Hertz Arena to say goodbye to Lee County Sheriff's Office K9 Dundee. Sheriffs from around the state stood with them, alongside first responders and Southwest Florida neighbors.

He was only 4, with 28 apprehensions in two and a half years on the job, and he was tracking a suspect alongside Deputy Chala on his very last call.

"Dundee was more than a K9," the sheriff's office said. "He was a member of our LCSO family." Today, law enforcement, first responders, and Southwest Florida community members showed up like family.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says Uriel Santiago Perez, 38, was arrested after a North Fort Myers home showing on October 6. According to LCSO, a father listed his home for sale, and Santiago Perez contacted him to arrange a showing. Detectives say that during the tour, Santiago Perez isolated the father's juvenile son in a bathroom and sexually abused him.

LCSO says Santiago Perez left before deputies arrived but was found at the end of the road. The charge is sexual battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18, and Santiago Perez is being held at the Lee County Jail on an ICE hold.

"To say I am repulsed by the acts of this disgusting individual is an understatement," Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.

Naples' own Byron Donalds is up six.

A new Fabrizio, Lee & Associates internal poll released by his campaign has Donalds at 49% and Jolly at 43% among 1,200 likely Florida voters. "We see no evidence of sagging Republican enthusiasm in our data," the campaign's polling memo says.

On immigration, Donalds isn't backing down. "We are not following the idiocy of New York or New Jersey or Illinois," he said in a clip making the rounds. "That is actually not what we do in Florida."

He never hesitated. Not once.

K9 Dundee ran toward danger for the Lee County Sheriff's Office for two and a half years. On his last call in North Fort Myers, he and his partner, Deputy Chala, tracked a suspect into the woods and brought him in. Dundee was only 4.

"Dundee was more than a K9," the sheriff's office said. "He was a member of our LCSO family."

A new poll says Florida's governor's race is tied. Another says it isn't close.

Change Research, a Democratic-aligned pollster, has Byron Donalds and David Jolly at 47% each among 920 likely voters surveyed Oct 8 to 10. The margin of error is 3.1 points. Mason-Dixon's poll from Sept 28 to Oct 1 had Donalds up 48 to 41, and Stetson University had him up 12 in September.

Election Day is Nov. 3, 21 days away.

She served 10 months in prison. Florida billed her for seven years.

Shelby Hoffman was released early after finishing a youth offender boot camp. Under Florida's "pay to stay" law, the state charges $50 a day based on the original sentence, not time served. Her bill came to $127,750. She found out when she was denied the exemption she needed to work as a case manager. "You charged me for a cell I didn't occupy," Hoffman said.

State Sen. Jason Pizzo called the selective enforcement "really troubling," and reports found counties apply the law differently. Supporters of fees like this argue offenders, not taxpayers, should cover the cost of their incarceration.

That's Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on whether Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan had any final requests.

Hasan killed 13 people and wounded 32 at Fort Hood in 2009. Seventeen years later, he's set to face a firing squad of soldiers on that same base, at 1 p.m., the same day of the week and time of day as the attack. And the Pentagon says the whole country will be able to watch it live.

"People need to understand that there's serious consequences for these types of things," Hegseth said.

It's the first U.S. military ex*****on since 1961, and the first ex*****on Americans can watch in nearly 90 years.
