Sparkle Plenty, flagship of TheSailingChannel.TV, gets her 125 genoa and inmast furling maintain back from service with Mack Sails, Stewart, Florida.

Both Sails are made by Quantum and are a radial cut of a mylar tafata sandwich, which gives these cruising sails ⛵️ superior shape retention and longevity. Now 5 seasons old they've been used fairly lightly on the Chesapeake Bay, then down and up the AICW three times from Maryland to South Carolina, and finally to south Florida.

Some restiching of the genoa UV cover was the only repair required on the sails' first maintenance since being hanked on after purchase from Quantum Sails Annapolis. MD loft.

With Lin Pardey – I'm on a streak! I've been a top fan for 3 months in a row. 🎉

I professionally applied and properly sanded 4 coats of Coppercoat going on ten years ago in Maryland. About 3 years later I had a reputable local yard familiar with Coppercoat apply and sand an additional 2 coats after bare spots appeard on the hull.

Then 18 months ago after a couple of trips up and down the AICW and two years in south Florida waters, I had 2 more coats applied and sanded professionally. During mytime in south Florida I have had a dive company clean the bottom monthly. Over the past year, they have reported (with YouTube before and after videos to prove it) extra growth that requires more work to remove increasing my monthly cleaning rate by 4%.

I'm now considering sanding down the Coppercoat, applying a compatible epoxy primer then retuning to traditional bottom paint.

I know there has been a lot of controversy about Coppercoat. Unless I have had extremely bad luck selecting my contractors, I am baffled at what I consider to be a failure.

The life of Coppercoat depends on a variety of factors. Water, temperature, and salinity. In Northern Europe, you should expect effective performance for at least 10 years.
