Over the last two days, I’ve watched so many incredible small business owners in our community experience damage to their homes, their businesses, or both. People who are trying to clean up their own mess while showing up to help clean up someone else’s. Business owners who closed their doors, not just to assess their own damage, but to help clean up our community. Local restaurants feeding people for FREE when so many were already dealing with losses of their own.

Pay attention to who is showing up for your community, and show up for them, too.

The next time you need a meal, remember the local restaurants that were feeding our neighbors for free. When you need services, consider the local businesses that are working to rebuild the community right alongside of you.

And remember, supporting small businesses doesn’t always mean spending money.

❤️ Follow them on social media.
❤️ Like, comment on, and share their posts.
❤️ Recommend them when someone asks for suggestions.
❤️ Leave an honest, positive review about your experience.

Those little things can make a bigger difference than you realize, especially when a business is trying to recover from a disaster.

We can’t undo what this storm took from our community. But we can choose to be part of what helps it recover.

We are one town east of where the Hurricane Isaias is expected to hit. In one breath I am nervous, and then the next I am reminded that even in the unknown God is still faithful and is working in ways that while we may understand, he is working for good.
