It beautifully and agonizingly describes the crisis our Cuban people are living in.

I am convinced Cubans are the most beautiful people on the planet, even in suffering. In their pain they make songs & send them. In their pain they still smile as milk and cooking oil are passed among them and shared.
Because in the end it’s not about the oil - it’s about not letting life sour your heart not matter what comes. It’s about seeing your neighbor- and loving them.

Right now…Love 💝and Hope 🕊️ are at war with despair and evil…And though they may grow weary… Love & Hope will always triumph.

This Easter weekend may we be a little more like the Cuban people 🇨🇺 and may we remember the Hope 🕊️ that lies in Christ Jesus.

Dear friends of Cuba - we’ve all watched as our beloved Cubans have been plunged into a crisis deeper than any they’ve faced before: energy shortages, fuel blockades, total island blackouts from electricity, hospital closures, food scarcity and quadruple inflation on the little food that’s left and no tourism or job economy. It’s unbearable to watch. We pray for our governments to get it together and reach an agreement quickly! In the meantime…If you’re wondering “What can we do from here to help?”then we’ve found a way. We tested and successfully found a reliable way to send humanitarian supplies. Most coveted are powdered milk, cooking oil and canned goods…As well as soap and detergent. To give you an idea… a full grocery run for a family of 2-4 costs about $275 delivered. We can send to Vinales, Guanahacabibes and Havana. We are looking into more ways to reach other cities where our groups have traveled. If you’d like to participate/ donate or have particular friends you want to send to, send us a message and we’ll give you instructions on how to donate as well as pics once the supplies are delivered. 🇨🇺 ❤️ 🇺🇸

Cuba is a magical land of riches, patience and contradiction.

🇨🇺 💝 RICHES:
People who admire Cuba recognize the beautiful natural resources 🌈 and feel the deeper values of the Cuban people. 😍 Their mental toughness and ability to see + help one another with what they have is unprecedented. In Cuba- everyone has needs. Yet…The genuine warmth….The pride and work ethic of a high standard to make sure everything goes well….The purity in humanity and friendship… the gift of time, a smile or a hug. To look into each other eyes … without hurry and see value, honor and loyalty… this is what is found and shared if you look deeper than hardships and ideologies. The US has abundance in materials but we are often so hungry for the old humanity that AI and technology are rapidly displacing. In Cuba, you immediately feel her humanity and old world values. It’s pressurized now… 😬 she is squeezed and more tense… but Cuba’s essence is still there in her people.

🇨🇺 🕰️ PATIENCE:
No one can visit - let alone live - in Cuba without patience. 🤔Patience for getting around… for creating the little things in your day…. for basic necessities… for recognizing time runs on its own schedule - held by its Creator… it can be influenced not controlled….🤪only our responses and choices can mold the experience. A Cuban is a master teacher in this lesson. In Cuba there are vast layers of culture…history… perspective… and national treasures. Cuba is always evolving…adapting. You could spend your entire life seeking to understand while she mesmerizes you and supports your inner being. If you’re patient enough… and willing enough… Cuba unfolds something more of her spirit and her essence in each visit while unlocking something new inside yourself. Isn’t that what a great relationship does? In Cuba it’s about always moving forward while cherishing good moments in the past. Being Cuban requires maintaining a hopeful outlook no matter how bleak the present wants to thwart you. Maybe we all need a bit of Cuban infused in us?

Each visit to Cuba.. if you allow yourself… you will find inspiration. For example after 27 years of visits to this island… the opportunity opened up to visit the famous el Nicho with my good friend Osvaldo. 💦 Neither of us had been before. We finished our prep and had a few hours open…. So we seized the moment. We had a 12 year old boy and his dog as our guide. His parents owned a coffee shop that brewed local beans grown in the rainforest. Moments like these are gifts and they woosh by. A quick snapshot freezes it in time to revisit or share. We stop for a moment to honor its presence as another locket of time ticks by into a memory - we are living life to the fullest.

🇨🇺❓CONTRADICTION:
The news rarely offers anything positive these days about Cuba shortages, blackouts, mosquito viruses. It’s not all wrong but it doesn’t tell the whole story. The Cuban media offers a more idealized view of beaches and resorts. It’s not all wrong but it also doesn’t tell the whole story. Cuba is not a land of and/or. In Cuba nothing is impossible while everything seems impossible at the same time. You have to go to know. You have to be open to take it all in.

To be born and raised in Cuba means you can successfully hold both extremes in your heart (the impossible & the possible) and find the thin foggy horizon to navigate where the two edges meet. That is where The Art of the Possible lives. You don’t have the luxury of being exhausted A Cuban must live on the bloody edge of POSSIBLE at all times… but isn’t that where you fully learn what life is and is not? If you’re anchored with a faith in God… can you not move and pivot knowing the next step will appear? Here comes 2026 and we fully embrace the Art of the Possible between our two countries. 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇨🇺

There are some people who enter your life & promptly change your trajectory

Happy Birthday to our friend, Alexi-corazon, who was an answer to my prayer!

Starting a dream of a business in a foreign land presents many obstacles … even more layers in Cuba. Meeting Alex gave way to meeting people who know people who introduce you to just the right path.

Alex came into our life like that in 2016..
but over time he and his family became reliable friends who model to my kids about family, kindness and hard work. Their friendship demonstrated overcoming hardships with integrity, honesty, perseverance, human-to-human awareness, empathy and respect.

Alex is a man all about family and helping others. A person who greets every challenge as an opportunity and builds his network everyday. He also cannot walk by a baby or a child without stopping in awe and truly gushing in connection with the child!

Alex Corazon is the heart of what makes Cuba real to me. He embodies teamwork,
Welcoming all and genuinely wishing everything go the best as possible to have the best experience possible to give an authentic gift 💝 to those who cross his path. Sometimes he’ll even speak a little English too 😉

Most of all, to know Alex, means you live in his heart… near or far… it matter not. To know Alex is to know you have a true friend in deed.

Happy birthday, Tony Morfa !! 🎉 🎂 💕

Although we met only 6 years ago… it feels like he’s been a brother I never had.

But, if we HAD grown up together … I’m SURE I’d have been kicked out of school from far too many shenanigans and loud laughter.

I’ve often joked that I should rename Cuba Scuba Tours to “Tony’s Agency”!!
I trust him that much and his impact casts a wide wake of heart prints that he leaves with people around the world. You don’t meet Tony, you experience him.

When I met Tony, his official title was “Tour Guide” and I was already suspicious 😂 But soon he’d earned the nickname “Beloved Encyclopedia” because he is a fountain of knowledge and experience of Cuba.

But the truth is…. Under his joyful smile and that devious twinkle in his eye… this man is full of hard fought life wisdom and a deep, authentic love for his country. He’s not afraid to tell the truth - ever — regardless of who the audience is. He’s a man of courage and integrity. He’s also fully fine with admitting when he’s a little naughty!!!! lol- which solidified our friendship (takes one to know one, right?!!).

Growing up in a land of contradictions from serving in the military to writing theatre comedies - Tony is one of the least judgmental people I know. He’s comfortable holding dichotomies while simultaneously sharing visual descriptions of them that leave a vivid mark!

He’s shown the enigma of Cuba to princes, heads of state, renowned musicians, celebrities and citizens from countless countries — including us crazy Americans. Ohhhh the stories he could tell. After more than 30 years working in this space… He’s got a precision & impeccable way of sizing up people by their motives and a humble way of navigating it all.

But it’s his empathy that wins us over… taking care of his sweet mom (from whom he inherited his wicked sense of humor!) and supporting his neighbors and colleagues.
He genuinely wants to see others succeed and his tears fall when he sees others in pain or struggling.

Together we push toward the art of the possible and strive for new solutions. Creative problem solving is fun with him. And.. he lends a listening ear and he gives me great advice in all aspects of life… just like a brother would.

If you’re lucky enough to count Tony as a friend, then life has given you a gift. 💝
He’s one of the rare and royal ones.

I can’t think of Cuba without picturing your laughter and kindness! Happy birthday today! I hope it brings you all you wish!
And I wish I was there to celebrate. We’ll have to have a proper toast in November and maybe one of those special tortas we like!!! 😉 🎂 🇨🇺 💗 🇺🇸 🎈 🙌 🥂
