I want to vent. LOL.

I was scrolling and ran across a post that was disturbing. I don't understand how a cattery can claim to be reputable, say that all breeders are HCM scanned before breeding, then post a 9 mo old KITTEN with big milk bags as will be available as soon as gets spayed. What's wrong with that picture?

Cats have to be a year old before HCM scanning. Who in their right mind is breeding a KITTEN at 7-8 mos old and apparently not even ashamed of their actions by the video post showing a recent pregnancy? This is not a feral cat. This was not an accident. Now tossing it aside because breeding a kitten to make money sooner didn't work out for them. ...and you're claiming to be a reputable breeder?? Would you classify that as a BYB?? WOW.

Overbreeding is just as bad. Pay attention to kittens posted and who the momma is. When was the last time her kittens were posted. Scroll through the prior posts. Do your resesrch. There should NEVER be less than 6 mos between litters, at a min. When you see 3 litters in a year from the same momma, we have a real problem. That breeder should be reported. Do you really think those babies are going to be healthy when carrying a litter while nursing another litter? Queens need adequate time to recoup in order to produce healthy kittens. You will be the one paying for that greed, in vet bills.

When I first started breeding, Yaddle had kittens only 5 mos apart. It WAS an accident but still my fault. Zaemosse lived as part of our family. I'd describe myself as a BYB back then. Lol. I've learned much in the past 9 years. I AM a reputable breeder and won't have it any other wsy.

Scrutenize your breeder's true protocol. Only adopt from reputable breeders. They don't breed kittens. They don't have 3 litters in a year. They don't solicit the sale of intact kittens to anybody for that extra money. They do what they claim to do. They HCM scan their breeders and do all the proper disease testing to ensure their best effort to produce healthy kittens. Isn't that what we all want?
