Please join Notre Dame Women Connect for our virtual Fall 2025 Inspired Conversations event! In its sixth year, Inspired Conversations seeks to foster dialogue with inspiring female leaders in the Notre Dame family -- celebrating their accomplishments while providing a platform to share their stories and advice with fellow alumni and friends.
This year, Inspired Conversations features a discussion between Notre Dame's Ruth Riley Hunter ‘01,’16 EMBA and her former coach, Hall of Famer Muffet McGraw. This conversation about leadership, faith, service and, of course, women in sports, is sure to be a thought-provoking and inspiring event.
Ruth Riley Hunter ’01, ’16 EMBA was part of Notre Dame women’s basketball 2001 national champion team. She went on to win two WNBA titles and an Olympic gold medal, becoming the first woman named MVP of both the NCAA Final Four and the WNBA Finals. Ruth now serves as Senior Director of Team Development for the Miami HEAT and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. Ruth advocates for global health and child hunger through NBA/WNBA Cares, the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets, and No Kid Hungry.
Muffet McGraw was Notre Dame’s women’s basketball coach from 1987-2020. In her 33 seasons, McGraw went 848-252 (.771), winning two National Championship titles (2001, 2018), and 25 regular-season and conference tournament championships. McGraw was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017 and ranks sixth all-time among NCAA Division I coaches with 936 career wins. A lifelong advocate for social justice and women’s equality, McGraw has expanded her efforts to hunger relief in retirement through her Meals With Muffet program.
