A couple of release anniversaries this weekend within the world of Matte Black Sound! ’s GOOD GRIEF was released six years ago yesterday, and HIGHLONESOME was released one year ago today!

Even more wild to think about: GOOD GRIEF was our 5th official release, while HIGHLONESOME was out 25th!

Honored to announce that ’s HIGHLONESOME has been nominated to Album of the Year by our friends at + !

The JAMBALOO team has helped make big waves the past couple of years by bringing a “free week” model to north Texas and putting on great shows in the community and beyond.

They have opened up voting for the AOTY music prize - which consists of a support slot on a killer show at with as well as a $20k check, which would be a total game changer for the MBSC camp.
•
The whole MM gang is honored to be nominated amongst such great artists that we have in the greater DFW music scene. Big love to the whole community for rocking with us!

One of our dear friends, frequent collaborators, and greatest inspirations just released a new single ahead of a debut LP. is next up and you should hop on board if you aren’t already rocking with it. We couldn’t be more proud of .MARCEL. and the whole gang making the project possible. producing at the desk, with some killer guitar/bass work, and with the visuals.

Since we started Matte Black Sound Company in 2017, we’ve always wanted to push the envelope creatively. Getting in the studio with longtime-inspiration for ‘Catch and Release’ was a dream, so it was a no-brainer to tap Alan to sample the track into a drum machine and cook up something totally new and off the wall. We’ve never done a true REMIX like this and we had a blast doing it.
•
This isn’t a “new direction” for the MM gang, but rather a way to celebrate and reimagine a song that’s made a big impact for the band. Rock with it, pass on it, whatever - we just love getting to do what we love to do.
•
Big love to the homie for always being down to make something special happen! Happy Friday the 13th!
