From 1938 - Recorded in Dallas, two sides by an early Western swing band based out of nearby Fort Worth, where the that genre, which combined traditional country music with jazz and 1920s/1930s dance band music, was born.

From 1928 - A jazzy recording recently added to Radio Dismuke's playlist by Duke Ellington's Orchestra on a Romeo record, sold through the Kress dime store chain, disguised under the pseudonym of The Washingtonians.

Upcoming Special Broadcast - Throughout the weekend of May 16 and May 17, in a special broadcast hosted by Dismuke and Matt From College Station, Radio Dismuke will pay tribute to records made by the American and British branches of Columbia Records, and their various subsidiary labels, which we regard as the finest records, in terms of production and manufacturing quality, made during the late 1920s and early 1930s—and to the enormously talented artists who appeared on them. We will be spinning a lot of incredible popular music and jazz records from 1925 - 1935, including some that are extremely difficult to find due to the devastating impact that the Great Depression had on record sales. If you enjoy the music on Radio Dismuke, you definitely don't want to miss this broadcast.

Ring in the New Year across all four continental U.S. time zones and beyond with Radio Dismuke’s 21st annual New Year’s broadcast!

Joining Dismuke will be guest contributors Matt from College Station, Shae, and Connor from OldTimeBlues net, who will take turns spinning fun and fascinating 1920s and 1930s recordings from their respective 78 rpm and 80 rpm collections. There’s no better way to start a brand-new year than with happy, jazzy, and melodic vintage tunes!

- A 1924 recording by an early Texas jazz band, captured during OKeh Records’ field trip to Dallas—the first commercial recordings ever made in Texas.

- An excerpt from our very first New Year's broadcast 20 years ago featuring the late Eddie The Collector.
